John Thomas Mitchell

Mr. John Thomas Mitchell, 79, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in Coker, Alabama on Thursday, November 11th, 2021. Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 12th, from the Chapel at Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Al Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Mitchell was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle throughout his life. He attended business school and went on to become an insurance salesman for the rest of his career until his retirement. By all accounts, he was quite a charmer, making his personality well-suited for his occupation. He was a devoted man of God for most of his life, and rarely missed the chance to faithfully attend church. He will certainly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, William Irvin & Syble Berry Mitchell, and siblings, Ray Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, Bobby Mitchell, and Nell Merrill. He is survived by his son, Keith Mitchell; three grandchildren; siblings, Zolly (Betty) Mitchell, Jerry (Linda) Mitchell, and Edna Montz; and numerous loving niece and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 - 2 PM.
