Jonathan Baxter Watson

October 23, 1979 — July 20, 2025

Lowndesboro

Jonathan Baxter Watson, 45, a resident of Lowndesboro, Alabama and formerly of Luverne, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, July 20th, 2025. Funeral services for Jonathan will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 23rd, at Rock Hill Church of Christ with Brother Danny Rolling officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.

Jonathan had an incredible love of life and always enjoyed doing exactly what he wanted to do. His favorite things were going to his church, watching wrestling, and spending time with his family, especially his beloved brother, Eric. However, pretty much everything was put on the back burner in the fall due to Alabama football. To say Jonathan was an avid Alabama fan is quite the understatement! You knew every time there was a great play or touchdown because you could hear him yelling "Roll Tide," and Alabama never lost a game in his telling...either the refs or the other team cheated them out of victory!! He especially enjoyed spending those Saturdays gamedays with his father because he'd have another Alabama fan in the house. Otherwise, Jonathan also loved living on the river and fishing, though the weather had to be just right and the fish had to be biting. While he was a bit of a homebody who loved nowhere better than his home, but now he absolutely loved going on cruises because he enjoyed the bottomless bubbles and great variety of foods available on them.

Jonathan loved copying Bible scripture in his absolutely beautiful handwriting and give it to his family to read. If you asked him if he'd like to go out to eat or have his stepfather, Teddy, cook, it was guaranteed he'd pick Teddy every time! Some of his favorite dishes were steak & baked potato or hamburger & fries. There was no one he'd rather spend time with than his family and he was always overjoyed to see his other brother, Brian, and sister-in-law, Rhi, and especially when they showed up with the nieces and nephews who were near and dear to his heart. He also adored his aunt and uncles, as well as his church families at both Rock Hill Church of Christ and the River Bend community.

Obviously, Jonathan was absolutely loved beyond measure and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him, but his family will find comfort from the knowledge that he is now rejoicing in heaven with those who were waiting on him with open arms.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his brothers, Zachary Scott Watson and Dakota Faulkner, and grandparents, Charlie Allen & Bernice Beall and Taffoal & Sybil Watson. He is survived by his loving parents, Gary Watson and Charlene & Teddy Faulkner; siblings, Eric Watson, Brian (Rhiannon) Faulkner, Chloe Meadows, Shaun Lewis, John Lewis, Chelsea Lewis, and Shelby Faulk; uncles, Royce (Nola) Watson, Stanley (Mary) Watson, and Melvin (Bellia) Watson; aunt, Sonya (Ron) Wheeler; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be J.D. Phillips, Bo Taylor, Daniel Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Shaun Lewis, and Josh Lewis.
