Joseph Bruce Golden

July 27, 1941 — January 22, 2025

Glenwood

Bruce Golden, born on July 27, 1941, in Glenwood, Alabama, to Hazel Thompson Golden and J.T. "Jake" Golden, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025. He was predeceased by his loving parents, his sister, Mary Elizabeth, and his grandparents.

Funeral services for Bruce will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 25th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Easter and Rev. Brennan Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in Darien Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Bruce was a devout, God-fearing man who was devoted to his family. He was a farmer who dedicated countless nights to his fields, working tirelessly until midnight and returning before dawn. His commitment extended beyond his farm; for 15 years, Bruce also served as a school bus driver, profoundly impacting the lives of countless children with his honesty and respect.

Bruce met the love of his life, Angeline "Angie" Black, at the Dairy Dream in Luverne when he was 20. They married a year later and were blessed with three children: Keith Golden (Mary), Mona Golden Antley (Chris), and Melissa Golden Feralin (Jim). He cherished his role as a grandfather to David, Samantha, Crystal, Jacob, Jared, Jonathan, Hope, and Janey. He was a proud great-grandfather to Ryan, Abby, Tyler, April, Brighton, Lauren, Hannah, Jacob, Jackson, Autumn, Kenny, JP, Cooper, and Robin.

Bruce's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for his tractor and managing livestock. His home was never without a faithful dog by his side, his most memorable companion aptly named "Dog." He was a man of principle who encouraged hard work and respect for all.

Survived by his wife of 62 years, Angeline "Angie" Black Golden, his children, sisters-in-law Eloise Shirley and Leah Hudson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as Grady Feralin and Bonnie Roedl, who were like family to him. Bruce leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and integrity.

A firm believer in helping others without expecting anything in return, Bruce was known for his clear stance on matters and his regular reading of and views on national news. His annual Christmas tree hunts with his family, axe in hand and children excited, despite the chill, will be fondly remembered as a testament to his love for family traditions.

Bruce Golden was a pillar of his community, a beacon of hard work, and a tender, devoted family man. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers will be family and friends: David Golden, Josh Mount, Jared Watts, Connor Mosley, Ryan Gooden and Tyler Golden.
