Joseph Ray Johnson, 71, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, June 20th, 2025. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at 12 PM on Sunday, July 6th, at Glenwood Assembly of God with Rev. Thomas McVey officiating.
Joe spent his professional career as one of the best butchers around for over 50 years. If you wanted the best cut of meat or prime steak, Joe was your man! In his free time, he loved vacations to the beach where he could fish to his heart's content. Otherwise, he most preferred to spend his time either with his beloved church family at Glenwood Assembly of God, or with the family of his heart. No one knew better than Joe that what makes you a family is love, not blood, and you better believe this Pop-Pop loved the family he was blessed with more than anything else in this world. He had a generous, loving, and truly Christian heart which endeared him to everyone who knew and loved him, and he will be missed more than words could possibly express.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Bertis & Hazel Bullard Conway Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Hughes Johnson; children, Shannon Grantham, Tim Davis, Derek Hughes; grandchildren, Shade Blackwell, Brandon Grantham, and Brianna Grantham; great-grandson, and his heart, Braydon Grantham; siblings, Johnny Johnson, James Johnson, and Christine Snipes; special aunt, Shirley Steed; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
