Joseph W. Sexton

August 29, 1943 — March 8, 2021

Luverne

Mr. Joseph W. Sexton, 77, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Monday, March 8, 2021. A graveside service for Mr. Sexton will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, March 10th, in Greenwood & Serenity Memorial Park in Montgomery with Rev. Stan Holt officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Sexton was a dedicated & cherished employee at Reinhardt Toyota for almost 50 years. He had a quiet, reserved personality with a huge heart that he wore on his sleeve. He was a longtime, faithful member of Trinity Memorial Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Sexton was the kind of person who did so much for his church and community, but few knew about it because he preferred to work behind the scenes. Everyone who knew him loved “Mr. Joe.”

Mr. Sexton also loved to fish and especially loved driving his bass boat around the lake. He was a devoted husband, father, grandchildren, and great-grandfather who prized his family above all else. He absolutely adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could usually be found doing whatever play activity they wanted to do, from playsets to the trampoline to driving his boat. He held a very special place in all of their hearts. His family will miss him terribly, but they rejoice that he is now resting in the arms of his loving savior, Jesus Christ.

Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin & Thelma Gertrude Carlisle Sexton, and three brothers, Robert Sexton, Andrew Sexton, and James Sexton. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Brown Sexton; two children, Jennifer (Mike) Luloff and Joey Sexton; six grandchildren, Evan (Kayla) Furr, Michael Luloff, Mark (Jessica) Luloff, Jolie Sexton, Levi Sexton, and Logan Sexton; six great-grandchildren, Declan, Noley, Mia, Madelyn, Ruby, and Rose; and two siblings, Mary Lester & Harvey (Judy) Sexton.
