THOMAS, Mr. Joseph Edward, 91, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, April 15, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Butts officiating. Interment will follow in Thomas Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Dossie and Caroline Slaughter Thomas, and his brother and sister-in-law, James N. and Margaret Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Brunese Bradley Thomas; three children, Larry (Debbie) Thomas, Dona (Donnie) Goneke, and Anita (Martin) West; five grandchildren, Joshua (Leslie) Thomas, Noel (Becky) Goneke, Kelly Goneke, Amanda (Greg) Evans, and Andrew West; and five great-grandchildren, Maddox Thomas, Judson Thomas, Hayes Thomas, Kaylee Evans, and Landree Evans. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Thomas, Noel Goneke, Greg Evans, Andrew West, Johnny Nichols, and Doug Borom. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 - 2pm.
