Joyce Bishop Bozeman

Luverne

Joyce Bishop Bozeman, 87, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, November 11th, 2023, while surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Joyce will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 14th, at Luverne Church of Christ with Brother J.W. Furr and Brother Lee Jamieson officiating. She will then be laid to rest beside her husband in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.

Joyce was born and raised in Georgiana, Alabama and graduated from Georgiana High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Lewis Howell Bozeman, and then went on to earn an associate's degree from Massey Draughton Business College in Montgomery. While Joyce enjoyed worked various clerical positions at businesses in Luverne, there was nothing she loved more than creating a loving and happy home for her husband and their four beautiful daughters. She was also a fixture in her community through her participation with the Kiwanis and the Jaycees, as well as serving as a Girl Scouts Leader for many years. She was also a member of the Luverne Church of Christ for over 60 years and loved spending so much time in fellowship with her church family there. She was particularly fond of their Shoebox Mission for Panama as they packed up goodies and necessities in shoebox-sized boxes for Christmas. In her free time, Joyce loved to express her creative side through her crocheting, as well as keeping her mind sharp through various puzzles and card games. If her TV was on, you could just about bet there was going to be Western playing; didn't really matter which one it was though because she loved them all from Gunsmoke to Wagon Train and anything with John Wayne in it. When it came to music, nothing could top her favorites from the Big Band era, classic Country, and gospel.

Joyce was truly the epitome of a Southern woman. She was gracious to a fault, with a great sense of humor and that special ability to so sweetly dress you down to the point that the only thing you could say was "Yes ma'am." Truly though, she was such a generous and loving soul who never had a bad word to say about anyone. You never saw her that she didn't have something to say that would leave a smile on your face as you walked away and a little more pep in your step. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who was the velvet-covered backbone of her family. She was the one you turned to in times of trouble because you always knew without a shadow of a doubt that she was going to be in your corner. She touched and changed so many lives over the years as she served as such a remarkable example and role model to everyone who knew her, and that is an amazing legacy that will live on for many more generations to come.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of our 40 years, Lewis Howell Bozeman; their grandson, Lewis Andrew Kennedy; great-grandson, Steven Alvie Kyser; parents, John Carol "Cee" & Willie Evelyn "WeeWee" Wallace Bishop; and sister, Carol Manning. She is survived by her beloved daughters & sons-in-law, Vicki & Dickie Harrison, Barbara & Ricky Upton, Gaye & Bennie Beasley, and Melissa & Mike McDougald; grandchildren, Tara Moseley, Josh Harrison, Tracy Holzman, Benjamin (C.J.) Beasley, Max (Kaitlyn) McDougald, and Madison McDougald; great-grandchildren, Ethan Kyser, Jordan (Justin) Parker, Journee & Cole Harrison, Jackson & Connor Holzman, Vince, Preston, Landon, and Ella Rae Beasley, and Sullivan & Maverick McDougald; and great-great-grandchildren, Kayleigh & Kip Kyser and Jacey & Jaylee Parker.
