Juanita Mallette Walden was born on August 24, 1920. She
passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. The daughter of J.D.
and Mary Mallette, who preceeded her in death, she spent her youth in
the quaint community of Rose Hill, AL until she left to attend Troy State
Teacher's College when she was 17. Juanita returned home after
college and taught at Rose Hill and Straughn in the Elementary grades.
She married Hinton Walden on August 18, 1947 and moved to Brantley.
She continued her love of teaching at the Brantley Elementary School
and would remain in this field for many years to come. Juanita was a
strong supporter of the Brantley community being a member of various
school organizations and participating on multiple community
committees. She and her family were members of the Brantley
Methodist Church. Her main joy, however, was the Brantley Garden
Club. A day in the flower garden was a peace of paradise in her busy
life.
After several years of teaching, Juanita joined her husband in the
family timber, real-estate and cattle business. A marriage that lasted
almost 60 years saw this partnership not only prosper in their various
business ventures but they worked hand in hand to help those people
in their community that were in great need. Juanita, a devoted wife
and mother, will always be known as a kind and generous woman with
a loving heart to all that knew her.
She leaves behind a son Tony and his wife Terry, her beloved
granddaughter Hanna Mitchell and husband Brent and two great grandchildren,
Walden and Reese Mitchell. Two surviving sisters, Sybil
Watson and Geraldine Lowell, both living in Pensacola, FL. Special
caregivers as her health declined who remained loyal friends and
companions were Leslie Blaire, Alberta Walker, Mabel Levins, Ann
Hawkins and Stephanie Williams.

May 8th at 2:30 p.m. at Sasser Church of Christ with Reverend Michael
Precht presiding. Active Pallbearers will be:Tracy Flower,James Hollis,

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to
Crenshaw Christian Academy, Brantley Methodist Church or the
Brantley Garden Club.
