Judith Lynn Taylor

September 9, 1944 — November 12, 2024

Honoraville

Judith Lynn Taylor, 80, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away at Baptist Medical Center South on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024. Funeral services for Judith will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 16th, at Union Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Owenby and Rev. Mason Halacker officiating. She will then be laid beside her beloved husband in Cool Springs Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.

Judith was born and partially raised in the mountains and hollers of West Virginia and held her home state close to her heart for the rest of her life. Growing up a minister's daughter, she learned her love of the Lord from the cradle, and she also learned a love of music to the point that she learned how to play the guitar. In fact, her family was so musically talented that they performed together on the radio and in various churches. Music was always a part of her heart and she made sure to see so many of her favorite artists when they performed in Alabama, after her family moved to the state. Her memories of seeing stars like Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, and a whole host of others were the kind of memories that stay with you for a lifetime.

Judith was an avid reader, especially when it came to spending time studying the Bible as God's Holy Word. She was also a faithful member of Union Baptist Church for many years. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family as the greatest blessing the Lord ever gave her. Throughout her life she left a remarkable impression on everyone who knew her and so quickly came to love her. How could you not love such a beautiful and loving soul. She was always open and honest with everyone with an immense inner strength that was often masked by her calm and peaceful nature. Few people could make you laugh like Judith either, though it was so often unintentional. And once she got tickled, the laughter did NOT stop and spread throughout the room! Words just cannot possibly capture how phenomenal Judith was and how much she meant to all those who loved her so very much. She will be missed tremendously, but there is comfort to be found in knowing she has been reunited with the love of her life, Elbert, in the arms of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Judith was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Elbert Taylor; parents, Avery & Marguerite Wood Owenby; and siblings, Yvonne Thrasher and David Owenby. She is survived by her treasured children, Beverly (Stuart) Horne, Lester (Tammy) Taylor Jr, and Sherry (James) Gilbert; grandchildren, Kyle (Beth) Horne, Clay Horne, Colby Horne, Josh (Amber) Taylor, Nikki Taylor, Adam Taylor, Audrey Gilbert, and Ayrton Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Oakley Horne, Aiden Horne, Wesley Taylor, and Maleigha Thrasher; siblings, Shirley (Tommy) Headley, Don (Mary Alice) Owenby, Doug (Marta) Owenby, and Charles (Joy) Owenby; special friends, Janice Taylor, Becky Montgomery, Brenda Bowen, and Jeanette McVay; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Kyle Horne, Josh Taylor, Clay Horne, Adam Taylor, Colby Horne, and Ayrton Gilbert.
