Julie Jordan Boswell, 76, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away in her home on Monday, April 14th, 2025, just five days shy of her 77th birthday. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 16th, in Siloam Cemetery with Rev. Steve Defee officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
Julie, or "Mama Julie" as she was called by all that knew her, wanted little more than to be known as just a simple lady. Her passion in life was being at home with her family whenever she could. Although she enjoyed seeing friends and acquaintances when she was out and about, Mama Julie was one to avoid physical greetings by those not in her inner circle. She saved such affectionate gestures for those closest to her. There were few things Julie looked forward to more than going fishing. Though she was indeed very successful at catching fish, Mama Julie did not like eating fish, or really any food that wasn't raised or lived on land. Probably her favorite thing in the world which she enjoyed had to be cooking and sharing meals with her family and loved ones. Anytime Mama Julie could prepare a meal and share it with those that she loved was a wonderful time, especially for those blessed to eat her cooking. There is no doubt that the Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations shared with her family, which Julie loved so much, will be treasured by each and every one who was fortunate enough to be a part of them.
Julie may have thought herself to be simple, to her family however, she was extraordinary. Working outside the home to provide for her family, Mama Julie's most important job was always raising her children. Her loving family watched their mother constantly put their needs ahead of her own, making sure they had everything they needed. They will miss her more than words could explain, but Julie's strength and influence will live with them all the rest of their days.
