Katherine Kelley Welch

WELCH, Mrs. Katherine Kelley, 84, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Funeral services for Mrs. Welch will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, August 24, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Rutledge, Alabama with Rev. Neal Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Welch was a devoted Mama, Grandmother, and Meme who loved her children, grandchildren, family, and friends unconditionally. More importantly, she loved her Lord, and enjoyed singing hymns with anyone who was willing to sing along, especially her grandchildren. She was a shining example of 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Alvin B. Welch Sr., parents, Robert Leon and Imelda Horn Kelley, and brother, James L. “Jimmy” Kelley. She is survived by her three children, Bartley (Beverly) Welch, Jeffrey (Abi) Welch, and Rhonda (Mickey) Sikes, six grandchildren, Danielle Welch, Morgan (Adam) Aceino, Tate Welch, Sydni Sikes, Ali Sikes, and Will Sikes, sister, Carolyn Ann Lindsey, aunt, Doris Malone, her lifelong best friend, Linnie Earl Wright, Shelby Welch, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Active pallbearers will be Tate Welch, Will Sikes, Shannon Malone, Kenny Horn, Ed Welch, and Tim Pierce. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1800 Chapel Hill Road, Rutledge, Alabama 36071 or the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, www.alz.org, Team Name: Meme’s Minions. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 23, from 6 – 8pm.
