Eddy was, without a doubt, a legend in his own time! He was most definitely the life of every gathering, large or small. He had a gift for entertaining with his phenomenal sense of humor that always kept everyone laughing whenever he was around. He was also an amazing storyteller...and some of those stories were even true! In all seriousness though, he had a true gift for finding the humor in anything and lightening the load of more than one person over the years just by his ability to make them laugh, and never underestimate the difference that can make in someone's day and life. Eddy's personality was certainly larger than life, but he was also that rare jewel of a person who never had any pretense or agenda. Eddy simply cared about his fellow man and wanted to help everyone he could. More than one person will swear their life is better just for having known him.
Eddy wore many hats throughout the years, and many affectionate nicknames from Unc to Uncle Eddy, while he was Eddy Sketti to his friends and Redman to all his fellow truckers on the CB, but there was none better to him than Daddy and Paw Paw. His family was truly his priceless treasure and there was nothing he was prouder of than watching them fly out of the nest on their own as they accomplished so much in their own lives. As much as he adored his children, those grandchildren and great-grandchildren just hit differently. And you better believe he was the greatest hero to every single one of them, Marvel and DC certainly had nothing on him in their books! Eddy had a large and beloved group of friends, and every single one of them claimed him as their best friend. Oh, and they ALL had their own favorite funny story to tell about him. He was definitely the truest friend possible to all of them. He was also an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and enjoyed few things more than cheering them on to victory on the gridiron.
Above all, Eddy was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle his family could have ever prayed for. He taught his children the value of hard work as he was their model of how good a provider every parent should be. He was the rock his family was built upon and they will treasure every single moment they had together over the years. He has left them far too soon and that leaving has created a hole that will never be filled, but he also leaves behind a remarkable legacy for all of them to live up to as he will continue to live on in their hearts and minds for many more years to come.
Eddy was preceded in death by his parents, Gene & Floy Beasley Henderson, and niece, Shannon Henderson Williams. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Hope Martin Henderson; their children, Andy (Dawn) Martin, Cris (Sha) Pedersen, Krystalyn (Clay) Sipper, Aaron Henderson (Matt Holmes), Brandon (Lindsay) Henderson, and Christina Dillard; grandchildren, Haley (Scott) Graham, Kaylan Martin, Karlyn Duffell, Mattie Register, Andi Grace Harris, Jacob Pedersen, and Valarie (Josh) Schofield; great-grandchildren, Connor Schofield and Jackson Graham; his brother, Jimmy (Donna) Henderson; and nephew, Ryan (Lisa) Henderson.
Active pallbearers will be Ryan Henderson, Tyler Henderson, Trey Morgan, Austin Register, Mike Cargile, and Scott Graham.
