Mr. Kenneth Walker Stephens Sr, 70, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Tuesday, February 16, 2022. A graveside service for Mr. Stephens will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 18th, in Panola Cemetery with Brother Dennis Sanders officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Stephens was a loyal and dedicated member of the United States Postal Service until his retirement after over 30 years of service. He was so highly regarded by his peers that he was elected as president of the Letter Carriers Union, where he worked tirelessly to arbitrate for his fellow employees of the USPS across the country. He also proudly served his country with the Army National Guard for several years. In his free time, Mr. Stephens thoroughly enjoyed buying and selling cars. He was also always ready for a deep sea fishing trip with his brothers. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was so full of life that he was always the life of the party whenever his loved ones got together. He was often the star of the show at family gatherings where he could talk about genealogy and share great stories with the younger family members. He was a truly beloved member of his family and he will be deeply missed by all those he leaves behind.
Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his grandchildren, David and Tessa Eady, and parents, Grady Walker & Cora Elzora Faulk Stephens. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ann Wilson Stephens; their children, Kenneth (Jennifer) Stephens Jr, Alexander (Kimber) Stephens, Rebecca Stephens, and Rachelle Stephens; grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Kelly, Sarah (Alan) Irwin, and Jimmy Stephens; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Kelly, Paisleigh Kelly, Lexie Wood, Justin Wood Jr, and Thea Irwin; brothers, Calvin (Michelle) Stephens and Keith (Molly) Stephens; brothers-in-law, Lee Wilson & Richard Wilson; sister-in-law, Jane Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Brett Stephens, Donnie Stephens, Danny Stephens, Ollie Godwin Jr, Joey Godwin, and Mitch Foster.
Family & friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
