Kevin Jay Cork, 72, a resident of Luverne, Alabama and formerly of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, while surrounded by his family. A private family dinner in Kevin's honor will be held at a later time.
Kevin was born to be an artist. His profession was in metal stamping and fabricating for an aviation company, but his soul was always craving to create more beauty for the world to enjoy. He was blessed to be talented in so many different mediums as well, whether it was sketching, drawing, and painting or wood-burning & pottery, there was simply nothing he couldn't use to express his gifted artistry. His family will certainly cherish every piece he created for the rest of their lives because they know it came directly from his heart and soul.
Kevin's motto in life was always to "slow down and look around." In his eyes, everything was to be slowly taken in so to better appreciate every second of enjoyment. Where some people might consume the cup in one gulp, Kevin was always going to slowly sip from the same cup so that he could savor each and every one. Even his goofball side adhered to this adage as each joke was filled with his signature dramatic pauses to wring every moment of humor out of it.
His taste in music varied from classical to chart classics from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. When not creating, there was nowhere Kevin would rather be than immersed in nature. He never felt more truly alive than when he was bird-watching or take slow hikes either through beautiful rolling meadows or along peaceful bodies of water. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who loved nothing more than spending his time with his family and his four-legged babies. He was a quiet man with a large presence within his family who will miss him tremendously though they will continue to carry him with them in their hearts and memories for many more years to come.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Manley J. & Hannabelle Goers Cork. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Terri Lynne Smith Cork; children, Christopher Allen (Erica) Cork, Nikkie Ilyssianna Ebert (Darrin) Clutteur, Andrew Charles (Miranda) Cork, and Paul John Cork; their furbabies, Miss Sophie the dog and Miss C.C. the cat; several grandchildren and grand-furbabies; brother, Brian Lee (Pam) Cork; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
