Lamar Cumbie

Mr. Lamar "Bug" Cumbie, 86, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Thursday, September 29th, 2022. Funeral services for Mr. Cumbie will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 3rd, at Pleasant Home Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Home Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1 - 2 PM.

Mr. Cumbie believed in and exemplified the value of hard work throughout his life until his retirement from the Alabama Department of Transportation after over 25 years of dedicated labor. He was also a God-fearing man who enjoyed studying the Scripture every single day of his life and served his church at Pleasant Home as a deacon for over 20 years. In total, he was a divinely simple man who knew how to appreciate all of the smallest joys life brought into his life. That included the occasional indulgence in a sweet tooth, particularly when it came to honey buns! Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his family dearly and leaves behind a lifetime of memories for them to cherish.

Mr. Cumbie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lee & Jessie Lee Burgans Cumbie, and siblings, Lolean Greer and Roy Cumbie. He is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Chuck" & Louanna Cumbie, and his grandson, Jacob Samuel Cumbie.

Active pallbearers will be Kris Riley, Joey Russ, Richard Williamson, and Brandon Reese.
