Luverne

Mrs. Laura Burgans Tatum, 67, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama in Greenville on Monday, February 14th, 2022. Funeral services for Mrs. Tatum will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 18th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. E.C. Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Centenary Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 - 11 AM.

Mrs. Tatum dedicated her life to taking care of her family and her home. When she was able, she thoroughly enjoyed working outside taking care of the menagerie of animals they raised on their family farm, including chickens, pigs, and horses. In her free time, she was always happy to find a good fishing hole to relax by. Her love of the outdoors extended to camping trips she took with family and friends in her younger days. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family more than anything in this world. She and her husband, Howard, raised their own "Brady Bunch" family and always cherished their time together. She has left them all too soon, but they will continue to cherish her memory for many years to come.

Mrs. Tatum was preceded in death by her son, Justin Tatum; granddaughter, Haley Scroggins; parents, Ray & Bessie Lou Flourney Burgans; and sister, Pearl Hodge. She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Howard D. Tatum Jr; children, Tammy (Jason) Scroggins, Alisha Hall, Crystal (James) Herring, Jason Tatum, and Jared (Aimee) Tatum; grandchildren, Rebecca Scroggins, Kelsey Herring, Dustin Scroggins, Maci Powell, Robert Lee Morse III, Justin Tatum, Alana Tatum, Dean Tatum, and Abigail Tatum; great-grandson, Waylon King; siblings, JoAnn (Phillip) Sipper, Danny Ray Burgans, Mary Helen (Donnie) McGough, and Kenny (Jennifer) Burgans; and a host of nieces and nephews.
