Leah Williamson Dawson

October 10, 1957 — December 12, 2022

Luverne

Mrs. Leah Williamson Dawson, 65, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Baptist Medical Center South on December 12th, 2022. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later time.

Leah had an incredible and infectious personality that could light up every room she walked into. She had such a "happy go-lucky" attitude towards life that she could instantly cheer up every patient she cared for as a nurse for over 30 years. During her long career, Leah worked for Crenshaw Community Hospital and the Luverne Health & Rehabilitation as well as many of the local doctors including Dr. Walker and Dr. Smith. In her free time, she loved nothing more than spending time outside whether it was fishing or tending to her prized garden. She also enjoyed canning the many vegetables that she grew to share with her family.

Leah had a deep and abiding love for animals throughout her life. She even volunteered her time with the Crenshaw County Animal Society. On Saturdays in the fall, you could usually find her cheering on her beloved Auburn Tigers. Above all, Leah was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who truly cherished her family as more precious than gold. However, that didn't mean she couldn't straighten them out when they stepped out of line!! The world is definitely a little diminished without her shining presence and she will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Leah is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ray & Barbara Jean Taylor Williamson. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Charlie Dawson; daughter, Jordan Dawson; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters, Kaye Beverly & Emily (Roger) Warford; three nieces; two nephews; and her beloved canine companion, Tazz.
