Lena Pearl Mills Carr

CARR, Lena Pearl Mills, 81, a resident of Luverne, AL passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Funeral services will be 3 pm Saturday April 9, 2011 at Joquin Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Thomas, Rev. Jerry Wilkes and Randy Wilkes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Carr is preceded in death by her parents, Parker and Idell Gregory Mills; four sisters, Mada Messick, Floeys Wilson, Frances West and Mildred Wilson; and three brothers, Aubrey Mills, Charles Mills and George “ Preacher Boy” Mills. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Sammy Carr; two daughters, Connie Martin and Cathy (Randy) Wilkes; three grandchildren, Rae Martin, Haden Wilkes and Ryan Wilkes; sister, Helen (Frank) Lowery; and a brother, Billy (JoAnn) Mills. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6pm until 8pm. The body will lie-in-state at the church for 30 minutes prior to service time. The family requests that memorials be made to the Crenshaw County Relay for Life or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
