Mrs. Lena Wilson Styron, 81, a resident of Goshen, Alabama, passed away at Jackson Hospital on Friday, July 15th, 2022. Funeral services for Mrs. Styron will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 18th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Zack Spann officiating. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
Lena was born in Conecuh County, Alabama as one of twelve children. On August 15, 1959, she married what could be viewed as the love of her life or her biggest headache! Together they had three wonderful children, but her heart wasn't completed until they added three more to their family through the gift of adoption. Lena worked tirelessly with multiple agencies devoted to helping others, including (though not limited to) Butler County Foster Parent Association and numerous PTOs from all of the children she lovingly raised throughout the years. Lena was not only a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but she was also a dear friend to many within her community. She was loved beyond measure by all those who knew her and will be sorely missed, but they can find comfort in the knowledge that she has gone on to her final resting place within the Gates of Heaven.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, John Sr and Ethel McIntyre Wilson, and her siblings, Rufus Wilson, Albert Wilson, Helen Wilson, Frances (Brad) Foreman, and Ann Eatman. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Bennie Styron; their children, Kenny (Floyce) Styron, Jason (Hannah) Styron, Lynn (Jeff) Sport, Vicki Styron, Kim Styron, and Kelly (Derek) Ulrich; grandchildren, Michelle (Nichole) Norris, Foster (Ashley) Styron, Hannah (Michael) Heitzman, Shelby (Kimberlee) Styron, Lindsay Sport, Whitney (Eric) McElroy, Logan Sport, Victoria (Matthew) Hanchey, and Amber Styron; great-grandchildren, Eric Ponder, Stephen Ponder, Lily McElroy, Asher Styron, Margot Styron, and Jackson Styron; siblings, Mattie Wilson, Bill Wilson, Bess Craft, Buster (Betty) Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Linda Spears; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Shelby Styron, Logan Sport, Eric Ponder, Stephen Ponder, Michael Heitzman, and Matthew Hanchey. Foster Styron will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
