Leona C. Brunson

BRUNSON, Mrs. Leona C., age 87, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, died Saturday, October 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11 AM in Brunson Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Marnell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Brunson was preceded in death by her husband, James Aubrey Brunson; husband, Jim Sanders; her parents, Barney Hoke and Nancy Jane “Tince” Crowe; three sisters, Eva Sorrells, Dorothy Geoghegan, and Sybil Head; and two brothers, E.C. Crowe and Winston Crowe. Survivors include one son, James Barney (Shirlene) Brunson; two grandchildren, Susan (Jim) Bass and Michael (Anna) Brunson; four great grandchildren, Chris Bass, Megan Bass, Ansley Brunson, and Avery Brunson; four sisters, Olvie Johnson, Mary June Crowe, Anna Martha (Shirley) Smith, and Nancy (Jerry) Lowe; and two brothers, Clint Crowe and James Ivin (Helen) Crowe. Active pallbearers will be Lamar Battle, David Catrette, Mickey Powell, Eddie Swanzy, Steve Battle, and Eric Powell. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning beginning at 10:00 am until service time.
