Letha Mae Arnold

May 15, 1935 — September 5, 2024

Luverne

Letha Mae Arnold, 89, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Thursday, September 5th, 2024. A graveside service for Letha will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 10th, in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Brother Mike Dunn officiating and Turners Funeral Home officiating. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.

Letha was born and raised on her family's farm which taught her not only her practical approach to life, but also gave her the strength and resilience necessary to survive all the slings and arrows life could throw at her. She spent her working career using her skills as a seamstress and weaver at area factories like Boss Glove in Greenville and Appleton Wire Works, and it was at Appleton that she met her beloved husband, James Arnold. Together, they were so generous with their time and love that they opened up their home to be foster parents to several children over the years.

Letha had a singular talent as a seamstress to be able to recreate anything she saw, whether it was a dress or couch cushions. There were few things she enjoyed more than finding some abandoned "treasure" that she could refurbish and give new life to. In her free time, she also turned her appreciative eye for detail to taking pictures of family and friends, as well as flowers and other things she found beautiful enough to preserve its memory. After her marriage to James, she found her church family with nearby Baptist churches wherever they were at the time. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who cherished her role as "Granny" more than any other in her life. She always knew the importance and value of those close family bonds and spending time together. Her family certainly loved her very much and will continue to cherish her memory for many more years to come.

Letha was preceded in death by her husband, James Arnold; son, Jerry Edward Fine; son-in-law, Michael Chandler; granddaughter, Janice Chandler; parents, Asa & Velma Wilson Jackson; and her beloved twin sister, Greta Jordan. She is survived by her children, Cumi Chandler and Delana (Jill) Fine; grandchildren, Jackie Hebert, Jerry Chandler, Haley Gross, Adam Ward, and Kendall Ward; great-grandchildren, Addison Glenlee Gross, Darren Jackson, Courtney Vincitore, Art Hebert, Bailey Hebert, and Ashley Hebert; great-great-grandchildren, Tinlee Vincitore, Lander Jackson, Mileen Hebert, Teagan Vincitore; siblings, Ted Jackson, Jean Jordan, Frances Smith, and Kenneth Jackson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Jordan, Richard Jordan, Brody Jordan, Jimmy Jordan, Blake Wilson, and Steve Holladay.
