Lon Christopher Howell

Enterprise

Lon Christopher Howell, 52, a resident of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away at Jackson Hospital on March 1st, 2025, following a prolonged illness. Funeral services for Lon will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 5th, in the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Indian Creek Church Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 4th, from 6 to 8 PM.

Lon was a brilliant auto mechanic who could make just about any car purr like a kitten! There were few things he would rather have been doing with his time than working on cars and spending time with them, which led him to the world of Mini Sports Racing. In fact, he enjoyed that racing circuit so much that he wound up roping his father and older sons into all of the fun for several years. In his free time, if Lon wasn't under the hood of a car somewhere, he was liking indulging in those Southern staple-activities, hunting and/or fishing.

In his personal life, Lon was always as dependable as they come. He was never one to ever ask for help, no matter the circumstances, but you could guarantee that if you ever needed any help yourself, all you had to do was ask him. Lon truly loved both his country and his family, but the pride he felt as a father and "grandpa" was simply unmatched. He cherished every moment he was able to spend with them over the years and every bit of spoiling he was able to accomplish for his first granddaughter these last years. Words cannot express the sorrow all of Lon's loved ones feel at losing him far, far too soon, but he will continue to burn brightly in every memory they made together for many more years to come.

Lon was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Jo Allen Wesley. He is survived by his sons, Jared Howell, Lane Howell, Kaleb Howell, Josh (Emily) Brown, and Logan Howell; granddaughter, Emily Page Brown; father & stepmother, Donnie & Wilma Howell; sister, Tina (Lennie) Espina; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Jared Howell, Lane Howell, Kaleb Howell, Josh Brown, Logan Howell, Anthony Nissan, and Brad Allen.
