Lonie Mae Edwards Bees

May 25, 1936 — September 4, 2020

Luverne

Mrs. Lonie Mae Edwards Bees, 84, a resident of Luverne, Alabama and formerly of Rutledge, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 4, 2020. A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Bees at 2 PM on Sunday, September 6th, in Faith Hill Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Mayberry officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Bees was a beloved member of her community, where everyone knew her as “Grandmother,” and, truly, she was a grandmother to all of them. She had such a loving and gracious heart for everyone, no matter who they were, and she emanated the love of Christ to all. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family, first raising her children, and later helping to take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she was adored by all of them. In her free time, she loved gardening and tending to her flowers, and always had a special place in her heart for animals. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband in their later years. She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her, but she leaves behind a legacy of love like few others.

Mrs. Bees was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Willard Edwards Bees, and her parents, Lonnie & Glennie Lee Edwards. She is survived by her two children, LaNora (David) Noble and Lavon (Mary) Bees; seven grandchildren, Jason Sulllivan, Amanda Sullivan, Kristy (Aaron) McCurdy, April (Jason) Pearce, Tiffany Rhodes, Danielle (Chris) Kelley, and Jason (Leah) Noble; twelve great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty (Ervin) Edwards; aunt, Frances Bloominshine; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members & loved ones.

Active pallbearers will be David Noble, Chris Kelley, Jason Noble, Jason Pearce, Aaron McCurdy, and Dennis Phillips.
