Lorene Spivey Blackmon

Mrs. Lorene Spivey Blackmon, 97, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, and formerly of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2019.

Mrs. Blackmon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family and friends dearly. She was a faithful member of Sasser Church of Christ for most of her life. She was also a dedicated employee of Alatex sewing factory for many years before she retired. Her loving presence will be sorely missed by all those she leaves behind.

Mrs. Blackmon was preceded in death by her husband, Grover G. Blackmon; her parents, Dillard and Annie Senn Spivey; and five siblings, Margie Bryan, Martha Parker, Milan Spivey, Aubrey D. “Hoss” Spivey, and Freddie D. Spivey. She is survived by her two sons, Grover Wayne (Sue) Blackmon and Joseph Windol Blackmon; two grandsons, Jonathan Blackmon (and his mother, Cheryl) and Kristopher (Jennifer) Blackmon; two great-grandchildren, William and Carter Blackmon; two sisters, Jimmie Powell and Audie Bryan.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 9 - 10 AM.
