Lucille Duncan Sipper

September 30, 1946 — July 21, 2026

Lucille "Lucy" Duncan Sipper, 79, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed way at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026. Funeral services for Lucy will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, July 23rd, at Rock Hill Church of Christ with Brother Danny Rolling and Brother John Dickinson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery there with Brother Dale Simmons officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing the services. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Lucy was born and raised in Luverne, and always loved her community so much. Like so many during that era, she went to work at the young age of 14. Her first job was at the Dairy Dream, and she could thank that job for the rest of her life because that's where she met the love of her life, Tommy Sipper, only one year later. It took him 3 months to convince her to go out with him, and only 6 months to get her to the altar....well, actually, it was a beautiful cluster of trees in Glenwood and they got the preacher to come down from working on the roof to marry them. And, for 64 years, she remained his pride and joy. Lucy was brilliant at math, even tutored students, but she loved nothing more than making sure her house was always a happy home for her beloved family over the years. She loved cooking as well, often spending hours on dishes like her red roast with bay leaves that her family always loved. Her greatest gift though was as a seamstress. She could make anything she wanted, including beautiful dresses for her girls whenever they had a special event.

Let me tell you, Lucy was also the epitome of a Southern lady full of class and charm. She took pride and joy in her appearance, always making sure she was dressed to the nines anytime she left the house....with a skirt that was always at least 17 inches long because that's the way Tommy liked them. Nothing meant more to Lucy than her family and she loved them as fiercely as any mama bear. She had such wonderful natural instincts, always able to tell when there was something wrong and happy to offer a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on whenever they needed it. Lord knows, she never failed to brighten up every single room she entered. She truly adored her children, but those grandchildren and great-grands who named her ""NaNo" were her heart and soul. Lucy was just such a devoted wife, mother, and NaNo that it's easy to understand why she was the bedrock of her beloved family. Words cannot express how much she adored each and every one of them, just as they loved her in return. They will miss her tremendously, but comfort will be found in the knowledge she is now receiving her heavenly reward in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Lucius Duncan and Francis Snell McClelland, and sisters, Helen Cochran and Rhonda McClelland. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Tommy Sipper; their children, Ric (Samantha) Sipper, Lisa (Danny) Rolling, Leslie (Chris) Helms; grandchildren, Brandon (Amy) Rolling, Brandi (Nick) Thomas, Haeden (Chase) Sanders, Hannah (Jackson) Holloway, Hollan (Trey) Lowery; great-grandchildren, Weller & Bailey Mays Rolling, Henry & Emmett Thomas, Parker Sanders, Hotchner Holloway, and Turner Boyd Holloway soon to make his appearance; sister, Margie Duncan; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers Brandon Rolling, Nick Thomas, Chase Sanders, Jackson Holloway, Trey Lowery, and Wayne Rolling.
