Rutledge

Lynn Sipper Schofield, 70, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025. There is no memorial service planned at this time.

Lynn was a light in the lives of all those she knew and loved. The number of people whose day was brightened simply by her lovely smile and caring demeanor is incalculable. She had a special place in her heart for animals and elderly people. The last is why she was so perfect for her job as a CNA taking care of them. She was unfailingly generous with both them and everyone else she met. If she had it (or it was in her house) and someone else might need it, you could count on her giving it to them! She had a love for beauty of in the world, especially her beloved flowers. There were few things she enjoyed more than spending time simply gazing at the gorgeous gardenias that filled her yard. In fact, her final moment on this earth was doing just that, with her faithful canine companion, Daisy, as always, right by her side.

She and the love of her life, Buddy Schofield, always enjoyed every moment they were able to spend either fishing or just floating along in the water. However, it should be noted, that between the two of them, Lynn was most definitely the better fisher! She was also a fantastic cook. There was nothing that left her kitchen that was not melt in your mouth good, especially when it was Southern staples like chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, or chicken salad (obviously, no one made better chicken dishes than she did!). Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and Grandmama to the ones who probably held the largest part of her heart. She certainly adored every minute she was able to spend with her precious grandchildren, whether it was fishing or watching many an hour of Dora the Explorer, she cherished all of it. Words cannot express how much Lynn will be so sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her, but she leaves behind a lifetime of those cherished memories that will allow her to live on in their hearts for many more years to come.

Lynn was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jonathan Schofield, and parents, Edward & Katherine Robertson Sipper. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Gaston "Buddy" Schofield; their daughters, Hollie (Matt) Schofield and Sha (Cris) Pedersen; grandchildren, Mattie Claire Register, Andi Grace Harris, and Jacob Pedersen; two sisters; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
