Mable Simmons Ham, 86, a resident of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Huntsville Hospital on Sunday, January 19th, 2025. A graveside service for Mable will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 24th, in Zoar Cemetery in Elba, Alabama with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
There were few things Mable loved more than exercising her gift for decorating and organizing, either in her own home or others. She could have even the most disorganized of homes in tip-top shape in no time with her talents and there were many lives she made the better for it. At home she loved tending to her potted plants and watching various sports, especially if it involved Michael Jordan on the court! Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved children and their subsequent generations who affectionately named her "Mimmie."
Mable was a private and quiet kind of woman, but she always firmly clung to her chosen circle of family and friends to whom she proved to be loyal and trustworthy throughout her life. She was a faithful Christian who always turned to her faith for strength and guidance. She passed that belief onto her children through even small acts like spending her time in His Word even while waiting up for them to get home. She was constantly praying and surely Heaven felt the impact on those prayers in the lives of many. That is quite an incredible legacy and example to leave behind.
Mable was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Scott Ham; parents, Bud & Claudia Simmons; and siblings, Harper Simmons, Tullis Simmons, Dallas Simmons, Jerry Simmons, Waylon Simmons, Carolyn Simmons, and Doris Morgan.
She is survived by her children, Lynn Anthony, April Ham Cagle, and Thomas J. (Kim) Ham; grandchildren, T.J. (Heather), Jeffrey (Kelsie), Sarah (Adam), Matthew, Gracie (Adam), Grant (Hannah), Lindsey, Brody, Katie, and Cole; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Dante, Avery, Ellis, and Lainey and siblings Maxine Jones, Judy Rogers, Guy Simmons and Dwaine Simmons, ; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
