Mamie Jean Walker

WALKER, Mrs. Mamie Jean Wallace, 89, a resident of Brantley died Wednesday March 16, 2011. Funeral services will be 11 am Friday March 18, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. William Leverette and Rev. Jim Tate officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by her daughter, Arlene Smith; parents, Freeman and Molly Capps Wallace; sister, Claudia Wyatt; and three brothers, James Wallace, Mack Wallace and Dee Wallace. Survivors include five children, Barbara (David) Knighten, Donnie (Cheryl) Walker, Arnold Walker, Janice W. Johnson and Clyde (Lisa) Walker; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (William) Chitty and Hazel (Elisha) Bolling; and a brother, Nelvin Wallace. Active pallbearers will be Dwight Layton, Charlie Layton, Gerald Wallace, Matthew Morgan, David Dunn and Mike Chandler. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10 am until service time.
