Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald "Jerry" Thomas Ferguson; her parents, Mary Wood Odom and Earl Ralph Odom; her siblings; Thelma Fay Odom, Thomas Earl Odom, and Alvin Doyle Odom; and a niece, Colleen Odom.

She leaves two daughters, Meg Ferguson Stringer and Lois Ferguson Conner; one brother, Paul Arlin Odom; foster daughter Jacquiline Herran; grandchildren, Jonathan Edwards, Megan Conner, Kiara Herran, and Maya Herran; great-grandchildren, Hunter Peterson, Dakota Peterson, Preston Story, Carter Cano, and Ethan Canon; nieces, Wayrah "Suzie" Odom Smith, Tammy Odom Fergerson, Erica Renee Odom, Rebecca Odom; and nephews, Brenden Odom, Sr., Seigmund "Sam" Odom, Jr., and Jessie G. Margaret studied at Judson College, Marion, Alabama and William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. After she married, she and Jerry lived in Louisiana where Jerry was studying at New Orleans Theological Seminary. During this time, they had Meg. They then ministered in Hattiesburg at Southside Baptist Church. They were led to move to Addison, Michigan, where they began a mission church in their home and taught school. During that time, they adopted Lois, who brought great joy to them. Jerry was called as a migrant missionary in the Wauseon, Ohio area where the whole family became involved in meeting the migrants and attending events surrounding the mission. Soon after, the family moved to Greenville, Alabama where Margaret taught in the Butler County school system. She served as a home-bound teacher for a few years. After her daughters left home, Margaret and Jerry also left and became house parents in the Baptist Children's Home in Portales, New Mexico. After several years, they moved to Miami, Florida to become house parents there. Later they were asked to help establish a new home in Fort Meyers, Florida. During their time as house parents in Miami, Jacquie came to them and became a beloved daughter to them. After retiring, Margaret and Jerry moved to Eufaula, Alabama and were very active in their church, Parkview Baptist, where Margaret sewed with the ladies and they sent thousands of garments made for children. Many went to Uganda, Africa, which the group called "Hemmed in Prayer" enthusiastically supported. After Jerry passed away Margaret continued sewing and sharing with others. After moving in with her daughters, she continued to sew as long as she could.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Luverne Health and Rehabilitation for their wonderful kindness to Margaret during her time there. We are also very thankful for our Southern Care Hospice personnel who were so very wonderful with her. Thank you so much Monica Smith and Jason Simmons.

Any donations in Margaret Ferguson's name will be appreciated greatly. Her greatest love was for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, so any memorials to your church, Mission Dignity, or her church, Spring Creek Baptist, would be treasured.
