Mrs. Margie Chesser Plemmons, 73, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Thursday, November 11th, 2021. Funeral services for Mrs. Plemmons will be held at 2 PM on Monday, November 15th, at Magnolia Baptist Church with Brother Chuck Francisco officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Plemmons spent her working career as a seamstress in local textile factories, where she more than proved what a hard and dedicated worker she was. She found some of her greatest pleasure in just the simple things in life. She loved the beauty in so many different flowers, and she thoroughly enjoyed sampling a multitude of fabulous dishes. She also loved listening to both gospel music and classic country music. Mrs. Plemmons was a determined woman, which served her well in the dealing with the slings and arrows life can throw at you. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family above all else. There was no one she loved to spend her time with more than them, and she especially doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all of them, but they will cherish the enduring legacy of her love throughout their lifetimes.
Mrs. Plemmons was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Walter Oneal Sexton; parents, George & Sallie Mae Hall Chesser; and siblings, Leon Chesser, Joe Chesser, Billy Chesser, Ora Mae Fox, John Tom Chesser, Fontel Chesser, and Adeline Goodwin.
She is survived by her children, Sylvia (Gary) Parker, Jennifer (Matthew) Pouncey, and Donna (Bobby) Stephens, plus Kenny (Debbie) McGough, who she loved as a son; grandchildren, Casey Parker (Simoneke Whitley), Joel Parker (Jazmyne Estes), Brittany (Trai) Montgomery, Austin (Sheldyn) Stephens, Adrienne (Gage) Sprayberry, and Caitlin Stephens (Alex Brown); great-grandchildren, Tremain Montgomery, Justin Simon, Micah Montgomery, Charlotte Stephens, and Kai Stephens; siblings, Minnie Lee Royal, Lonnie Chesser, and Alvin Chesser; sister-in-law, Joann Eiland; and her lifelong best friend, Candy Brown.
Active pallbearers will be Joel Parker, Gary Parker, Matt Pouncey, Kenny McGough, Austin Stephens, and Bobby Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Sexton, Randy Arthur, and Casey Parker.
The family requests that any memorial donations be made to Magnolia Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 355, Highland Home, Alabama 36041.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1 - 2 PM.
