Margie Rochelle Prescott, 89, a resident of Hope Hull, Alabama and formerly of Brantley, passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery on Monday, November 17th, 2025. Funeral services for Margie will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 21st, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Gaines officiating. She will then be laid to rest beside her husband in Sasser Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday for one hour prior to the service.
Margie had a smile that lit up every room she entered throughout her life and her laugh never failed to be contagious as it buoyed the hearts of all who heard it. She was a born nurturer who prided herself on making sure her house was more than four walls and roof; it was a cherished home full of love, laughter, and compassion. No surprise having grown up with three sisters and five brothers that her family would always be her top priority as she never failed to make time for her children as well as her siblings and their children. In her free time, she loved to sew as well as finding a nice, quiet fishing hole to drop a line in. Margie found her spiritual home with her church family at St. Clair Assembly of God where she loved praising her Lord and Savior in song.
Margie was a strong, vibrant, and independent woman who always knew her own mind and had the strength of will not to be intimidated or easily mislead. She didn't suffer fools gladly but her heart was always open and warm with those she knew and loved so well. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and Grandmama who cherished every moment she was blessed to spend with the people she loved. Her door was always open to them and a seat available at the dinner table for a scrumptious meal of the best Southern cooking, especially when it came to her chicken & dumplings and banana pudding. Words could never express how much she was loved and cherished by her family and friends, nor how much they will miss her, but they know she is currently rejoicing in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and in her reunion with her beloved Alvin.
Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Alvin G. Prescott; parents, Walter & Ruthie Mae Carr Gaines; and siblings, Q.P. Gaines, Ruthie Mount, Donnie "Hootie" Gaines, Herman "Shinny" Gaines, and Lillie Drew Savell. She is survived by her children, Melissa Prescott Jenks and James Larry Prescott; grandson, Brent Alan Jenks; siblings, Bobby Gaines, Sarah (George) Sewell, and Nick (Betty) Gaines; sister-in-law, Ann Prescott & Ron Miller; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Bob Gaines, Danny Mount, John Powell, Brady Lucas, Ken Gaines, and Thomas Kelley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Clair Assembly of God, 886 Highway 80 East, Lowndesboro, Alabama 36752 or email stclairassembly.25@gmail.com.
