Marilyn Mcshane Bailey

Marilyn Lee McShane Bailey, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 10, 2020. A memorial service for Mrs. Bailey will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 14, at South Luverne Baptist Church with Dr. Sam Tate officiating. A private burial will be held in Louisiana at a later time.

Mrs. Bailey was born on October 27, 1935 in Springville, Iowa. She moved with her husband, Kenneth, to Grant Parish, Louisiana in 1962 where she resided for almost 50 years. She worked at the Department of Family Services for more than 25 years and was an active member of Colfax Baptist Church.

She moved to Crenshaw County, Alabama in 2010 to be closer to her daughter soon after losing the love of her life. While there, Mrs. Bailey became a member of South Luverne Baptist Church, and she tremendously enjoyed her time socializing at the Luverne Senior Center.

Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Clara Davis McShane, and her husband, Kenneth Dale Bailey. Left behind is the family she loved so much, including her son, Terry (Dewy) Bailey of Houston; daughter, Sherri (Roger) Humphreys of Luverne; grandchildren, Joshua (Paige) Humphreys of Prattville, Jennifer Humphreys of Mobile, Jessica Bailey of Lafayette, Louisiana, Claire Humphreys of Luverne, and Caleb Humphreys of Lubbock, Texas; two siblings, Jean Schmidt and Don (Jane) McShane, both of Springville, Iowa. Mrs. Bailey also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends she has made along the way. She wants you to know she will always “love you more.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice in remembrance of Mrs. Bailey’s caring spirit.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, from 10 - 11 AM.
