The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:30 to 11 AM.
Although she chose to pronounce it "Daisy" - Marilyn Gail Pettus had a great love of the Dukes of Hazzard Show - and decided to be called Daisy. She had many health challenges from a young age that carried over into adulthood. Our mother - Marjorie Pettus - devoted herself to caring for Daisy & was the best nurse Daisy ever could have had. Daisy met her health challenges with her strong faith in God & much bravery.
Daisy grew up as a member of Brantley Baptist Church, where she found not only her faith but also a church family that meant the world to her. She never met a stranger and always looked for the good in everyone she met. Her gentle spirit and sweet nature left an impression on every heart she touched.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Emma Pettus of Brantley; father, William "Roe" Pettus of Glenwood, AL; brother, Milton Monroe "Beau" Pettus; and grandparents, George Leonard & Norma Clyde Pinckard Williamson of Brantley and Monroe & Julia Pettus of Glenwood.
Daisy leaves to cherish her life and memories her sisters, Susan (Tom) Schexnayder, Marsha R. Pettus, Margo P. (Brian) Ashford, and Dianne (Monty) Russell; nieces and nephews: Matthew Schexnayder; Courtney, Ben, Joshua, Colette Emma, & Cecilia Schexnayder; Lucille, Rob, Sarah, Jadyn, & Robert O'Neil Melby; Emily, Michael, Graeme, and William Hale; Julia, Jeffrey, and Timothy Carter; Lyndsie (Joe), Lelia, and Jocelyn Hudson - along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Matthew Schexnayder, Ben Schexnayder, Dr. Charles Tompkins, Joseph Eiland, Stan Hawes, and Jeffrey Carter.
The family of Daisy Pettus would like to thank everyone who shared in her journey and helped celebrate her life. Heaven has gained a new star - their sweet angel called Daisy.
