Mark A. Tidwell, 62, a resident of Grady, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Mark will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 15th, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Ruby Beck officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:30 to 2 PM.
Mark spent most of his professional career as a truck driver until he finally retired from his brother's company, Eagle Motor Freight. In his free time, he loved spending time riding his favorite Harley motorcycle and "tailgating" for the races in Talladega with family and friends. Mark was an absolutely wonderful man who livened up any event with his dry wit that could keep you in stitches. More importantly, he was a good man who was always extremely generous and willing to help everyone who needed it. He loved his family with all his heart and soul, and he was a devoted husband, father, and "Papa Mark" to his cherished grandchildren. He has left them all far too soon, but the knowledge that he and Sabrina were baptized together on June 23rd of this year, mean they can find comfort in the knowledge that he is no longer suffering but instead he is safe in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe & Ella Marie Hall Tidwell, and his siblings, Tony Tidwell, Sherman Tidwell, Jimmy Tidwell, Donnie Tidwell, Aaron Tidwell, Shirley Tomlin, Joyce Boothe, and Ronnie Tidwell. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sabrina L. Tidwell; daughter, Cynthia Hope Sanderson; grandchildren, Jesse Wood, Lane Smith, and Lauren Smith; siblings, Vickie (Billy) Dobbs, Debbie (Sam) Isaacs, Cline (Sybil) Tidwell, and Dale Tidwell; his faithful canine companion, Harley; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Lane Smith, Rock Tidwell, Justin Arthur, Dylan Arthur, Allen Hubler, and Fred Sharp.
