Marshall Gene Tanner

Marshall Gene Tanner, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 24 ^th . He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Inez Tanner and his second wife, Mildred Turner Tanner; parents, Marvin Eugene Tanner and Lois Opal Tanner; sisters, Minnie Lee Holland and Kana Cobb.

Marshall had many dear friends in the Country Estates community where he lived for 30 years and in the Henderson Landing community on the Alabama River where he resided for 28 years. He was a charter member of Catoma Baptist Church and later became a member of River Bend Baptist Church in Lowndesboro. He was a faithful servant. Marshall lived out his faith in Christ through his kind and gentle spirit; his provisions for the needs of others, and his willingness to always be available.

Marshall loved the outdoors and was fond of camping and fishing.  He especially enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie around an outdoor campfire. He will be missed for his kind acts, quick wit, dry humor and mischievous pranks.

He had a deep and abiding love for his children, Martin Tanner, Tracy Shamburger (Charlie), Anthony Turner (Judy) and also for his grandchildren Emily Rogers (Jesse), Tanner Shamburger, Benjamin Turner (Audra) and Mary Beth Turner, two great grandchildren, River Rogers and Dusty Pittman. He took great joy and pride in their accomplishments.

Marshall is survived and will be missed by his immediate family (above); sisters, Doris Hurston and Linda Kelley, brother-in-law, Jerry Sipper (Annette), plus a host of other close family members.

The funeral service with Reverend Neal Kelley Officiating will be held Wednesday, April 28 ^th at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 1800 Chapel Hill Road, Rutledge, Alabama 36071 . Visitation at 10:30 , Service at 11:00 with graveside to follow at the church.
