Mr. Marvin Tankersley Stephenson, 87, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022. Funeral services for Mr. Stephenson will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, April 5th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Hogwood and Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Rutledge Cemetery with Turners Funeral of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 - 2 PM.
Mr. Stephenson went to work early as a child, helping out with the family farm. Later in life, he went into manufacturing as well, as he demonstrated the importance of working to provide a good life for his family. In his free time, there were few things he enjoyed doing more than working out in his yard and keeping up a thriving garden. He was also a dedicated member of Freewill Baptist Church. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who was an example of the value of living a selfless life to those who knew and loved him. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family, but especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He will be missed tremendously, but they are comforted in the knowledge that he is now with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mr. Stephenson was preceded in death by his parents, W.T. & Era Bell Cornett Stephenson. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Mitchell Stephenson; their children, Michael (Pamela) Stephenson, Carol (George) Jeffcoat, and Randy (Kim) Stephenson; grandchildren, David (Alisha) Stephenson, Nathan (Sky) Stephenson, Joshua (Ashley) Jeffcoat, and Heather (Joshua) Frith; great-grandchildren, Easton & Ryker Stephenson and Jason & Blake Frith; siblings, Charles Stephenson, Ann Taylor, Windham (Sue) Stephenson, Thomas (Nancy) Stephenson, Von Stephenson, and Jerry (Annette) Stephenson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be David Stephenson, Nathan Stephenson, Jerry Stephenson, Von Stephenson, Josh Jeffcoat, and Josh Frith.
