Mary Frances Phillips

November 30, 1927 — August 31, 2021

Rutledge

Mrs. Mary Frances Stephenson Phillips, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. A graveside service for Mrs. Phillips will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 2nd, in Rutledge Cemetery with Rev. Walter Brewer officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Phillips spent much of her working life as a seamstress in a textile factory. After her retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took great pride in her family. She was also a dedicated member of Rutledge First Baptist Church for many years, and there were few things she loved more than worshiping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her church family. In her free time, you could most often find her dropping a line in a fishing pond somewhere, just enjoying communing with the beauty of God's creation. Above all, she was the beloved matriarch of her family, and they will miss her more than words could properly express.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Presley Phillips; their sons, Robert Larry Phillips, William Kenneth Phillips, and Ronald Jack Phillips; and seven siblings. She is survived by her son, J.A. Phillips; grandchildren, Autumn Phillips (Chip) Scheler, Sienna Skye Phillips (Justin McKinley), David Phillips, and Michelle Jeffcoat; great-grandchildren, Heaton I. Scheler, Langley M. Scheler, Davey Phillips, Ariel Phillips, and Brandon Jeffcoat; and her sister, Ellen Massey.

Active pallbearers will be J.A. Phillips, Chip Scheler, Justin McKinley, Heaton Scheler, and Ed Welch.

Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
