Mrs. Mary Tate Shirley, 96, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. A graveside service for Mrs. Shirley will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 1st, in Providence Cemetery with Rev. Steve Defee officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Shirley was a beloved member of her community. She served as a role model of a good, Christian woman for all those around her, but especially her family. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all of her being, and faithfully served Him daily. Her prayers for all those who needed them were well-known and much appreciated. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be sorely missed by all those she leaves behind.

Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, David Kline Shirley; two sons, Ronald Shirley and Jack Shirley; granddaughter, Lisa Shirley; parents, Willie Harper & Molly West Tate; and six siblings, Mark Tate, Travis Tate, Ed Tate, Earl Tate, Lucille Witherington, and Hazel Folmar.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Shirley and Wayne (Cynthia) Shirley; two daughters-in-law, Danna Shirley and Mary Shirley; twelve grandchildren, Kristen Shirley Grigson, Russell Shirley, Aaron Shirley, David Shirley, Sonya Anderson, Katie Shirley Sovine, Ryan Shirley, Callie Shirley, Marc Shirley, Brad Robinson, and Cristi Otero; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be David Shirley, Russell Shirley, Aaron Shirley, Marc Shirley, Ryan Shirley, and Coleman Sovine.
