Mary V. Owens

Mrs. Mary V. Owens, 77, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

Mrs. Owens spent many years working as a florist, where she was able to indulge her love of flowers every day. That love also extended to her home where she carefully nurtured her own garden and flowers, especially her beloved daylilies. Her garden also contained hummingbird feeders so that she could watch them as they visited. Family camping trips when her children were young also produced numerous cherished memories for them in their later life. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family more than anything else besides her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though she will be missed daily by all those who knew and loved her, they rejoice that she is now reunited with her husband in Heaven.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John E. Owens; parents, Thomas Akins and Dorothy Simpson; and two brothers, Jimmy Lee Akins and James Simpson. She is survived by five children, Gary P. (Sandra) Owens, Donna O. (Tim) Faulk, Tina O. (Lee) Mathis, Cathy O’Hare, and Vickie Jude; six grandchildren, Jarrod Owens, Chase (Casey) Owens, Kristen (Bry) Findley, Kaitlyn (Trey) Dillon, Austin Mathis, and Hannah Mathis; five great-grandchildren, AddiBeth Owens, Skylar Owens, Eva Adelle & Emmarie Findley, and George Dillon; and four siblings, Thomas Steve Akins Jr, Katherine Creamer, Brenda Brown, and Donald Simpson.
