Mrs. Mary Oglesby Walker, 92, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, November 25th, 2022 while surrounded by her family. A graveside service for Mary will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 29th, in Providence Cemetery with Rev. Terry Marler & Rev. James McVay officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
Mary was a devout Christian who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Throughout her life she always made her family her priority. She prided herself on creating a happy and loving home in which to raise not only her children, but also her grandchildren. That pride extended to her yard, especially her cherished rosebushes. Mary could also whip up a storm in the kitchen, and her family was always excited when she pulled out a pan of her homemade dressing. She was also well-known for her strong will and determined spirit, and those who knew her best knew you better not disturb her from 6-7 PM while her beloved MASH was on TV. Ultimately, Mary was always happiest in her home with her family, including her most recent canine companion, Rebel. She was a beloved member of the Walker & Oglesby clans and will be missed more than words could possibly express, but they will all find comfort in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her husband and family who went on to their heavenly reward before her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Walker; parents, Calvin "Bud" & Annie Carnley Oglesby; and siblings, Lessie Corley, Ollie Norris, Mattie Gibson, Christine Moncrief, Lena Walker, Bill Oglesby, Roy S. Oglesby, and Clelar Oglesby.
She is survived by her beloved children, Peggy (Rickey) Walker, Danny Walker, and Merica (Michael) Tisdale; grandchildren, Lorie (Derek) Willis, Marcus (Susan) Powell, Jeremy (Summer) Walker, and Meagan Walker; great-grandchildren, Emily (Ryan) Kelly, Caleb (Makenzie) Tisdale, Abby Baggett, Dallas Johnson, Grant Powell, Evie Kate Powell, Cole Walker, and Scarlet Walker; great-great-grandson, Caden Kelly; and host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Tisdale, Caleb Tisdale, Marcus Powell, Grant Powell, Jeremy Walker, Cole Walker, and Ryan Kelly.
