Matthew Reaves, 46, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Thursday, June 6th, 2024. A celebration of Matthew's life will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 14th, at Rutledge Methodist Church.
Matthew loved nothing more than spending time with his family, which included the time spent with his beloved canine companion, Scooby. In his free time, Matthew thoroughly enjoyed cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide on the gridiron, as well as the nostalgia of his favorite classic TV shows. He was a welcome member of the Rutledge Community, known for riding his bike everywhere as well as his willingness to always help out, especially when it came to cleaning up storm damage. Matthew was also a dedicated member of Rutledge Methodist Church where he often participated in the annual Christmas play and the church's float in the Christmas parade. Above all, he was a loving brother, uncle, and friend who will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie & Johnnie Mae Middleton Reaves, and siblings, Pat Tolbert Reaves, Williard Reaves, Marvin Reaves, Joe Reaves, Linda Reaves, Roy Reaves, and Howard Wayne Reaves. He is survived by his siblings, Mildred Hall, Larry Reaves, Brenda Reaves, Randy Reaves, Joe Reaves, Nancy "Liz" Roberts, Trudy DeLisle, Kathy Reaves, Ronnie Reaves, Sherry Reaves, Johnny "Mack" Reaves, and Tammy Starnes, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
