HILBURN, Mrs. Melba Bryan, 102, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018. Funeral services for Mrs. Hilburn will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 23, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Hogwood and Rev. Walter Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Hilburn was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her hospitality was famous throughout the community, providing delicious meals to all those who visited her house. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Hilburn; parents, Milas Palmer and Michael Cornelia Witherington Bryan; four sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Hilburn is survived by her five loving children, Huey (Sheila) Hilburn, Willie (Ann) Hilburn, Donald Hilburn, Ronald Hilburn, and Ray Hilburn; eleven grandchildren, David Hilburn, Debbie (Eric) Lowery, Drew (Crystal) Hilburn, Amy Hilburn, Tina (Andy) Burgans, Bryan (Lori) Hilburn, Lance (Brooke) Hilburn, Ivie (Joel) Burton, Christopher Hilburn, Jeffrey (Lindsey) Hilburn, and Matthew (Anna Ray) Hilburn; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her special caregiver, Kim Wooten.
Active pallbearers will be David Hilburn, Drew Hilburn, Eric Lowery, Andy Burgans, Bryan Hilburn, Lance Hilburn, Christopher Hilburn, Jeffrey Hilburn, and Matthew Hilburn.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 22, from 4 - 7pm.
