FLOWERS, Melvin, 66, at resident of Lapine died Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Francisco and Rev. Clay Crum officiating. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Flowers is preceded in death by his father, Joe Flowers; sister, Margaret Middlebrooks; two brothers, Eddie Joe Flowers and Roy Flowers. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mila Mae Flowers; two children, Lisa (Frank) Tompkins and Samantha (Bill) Brown; five grandchildren, Josh (Holly) Tompkins, Jake Tompkins, Katarina Brown (Jeffrey Sexton), Cody Brown and Dale Brown; two great grandchildren, Mallory Sexton and Turner Tompkins; mother, Flarcy Flowers Jones; sister, Bonnie Flowers; four brothers, Curtis Flowers, Glenn Flowers, Marvin Flowers, and Earl Flowers and a large extended family. Active pallbearers will be Josh Tompkins, Jake Tompkins, Jeffrey Sexton, Casey Petty, Cory Petty and Cyle Petty. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy DeFonzo and Lonnie Chesser. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8PM.
