Mervyn Welch

WELCH, Mr. Mervyn, 76, a resident of Highland Home died Tuesday December 18, 2012. Funeral services will be 2PM Friday December 21, 2012 at the Sweetwater Primative Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Zimmer officiating. Interment will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Welch was a graduate of Highland Home High School and a member of Crossview Baptist Church. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and worked with Capital City Asphalt, W.S. Newell and Newell Road Builders. Mr. Welch is preceded in death by his parents, John Tom and Mattie Mae Welch and a daugther-in-law, Ruth Brown Welch. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Sandra H. Welch; three children, Brad Welch, Reba (Michael) Sexton and Rana (Ricky) Roper; two step-children, Travis (Lisa) Overstreet and Amy (Sloan) Hamlin; twelve grandchildren, Erick and Dustin Horne, Jonathon (Kelly) Welch, Nioka (Joseph) Burk, Savana Roper, Tyler, Garrett and Braxton Hamlin, Austin and Ian Overstreet, Tara S.(Donnie) Frazier, and Zane Sexton; and three great grandchildren, Hunter and Alyssa Norwood and Brooklyn Frazier. Active pallbearers will be Erick Horne, Dustin Horne, Jonathon Welch, Roger Utter, Stephen Thomas and Tyler Hamlin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 pm until 8 pm. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Montgomery Cancer Center, Montgomery, AL.
