Mr. Michael "Mike" Edward King, 52, a resident of Andalusia, Alabama, passed away suddenly in his home on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022. Funeral services for Mr. King will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 25th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Rayburn officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 - 11 AM.
Mike was a simple, easygoing man who never needed the so-called finer things in life. He was happiest with his family and friends just hanging around together, joking around and cutting up. It was easy to tell if Mike liked you or not because, if he did, he was going to aggravate the stew out of you for a laugh. He proudly served his country with the United States Army and Alabama National Guard. In his civilian life, he owned and operated his own fencing company. He was also extremely skilled at working with his hands. Mike could build beautiful swings, tables, and other items out of wood, however he was also a perfectionist who constantly underestimated his talent and skills. Unlike many people today, he was a confirmed Luddite who hated technology and would far rather be outside fishing, hunting, or literally doing anything he could find to occupy his time so he could enjoy the sun and open air. Above all, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who truly loved his family. They were undoubtedly his world, and they loved him back as fiercely. He has gone on far too soon, but his loved ones will find comfort in the memories they have built together during his lifetime.
Mike was preceded in death by his son, Chris Goddard; mother, Barbara Wood King; sister, Teresa King; and nephew, Trent King. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sherry Scroggins King; their children, Kandace (Spencer Allen) King, Desiree (Michael) Smith, and Jessica (Tracy) Castillow; grandchildren, Gracelynn Smith, Lilyana Castillow, Jacob Smith, MaShell Smith, Sirena Allen, and Mason Castillow; father, Joseph E. King; and brother, Joey (Beth) King.
Active pallbearers will be Tracy Castillow, Michael Smith, Chad Griffin, Ron Scroggins, William Hester, and Jonathan McKenzie.
