Michael Edward Latham

February 12, 1970 — April 6, 2021

Elba

Mr. Michael Edward Latham, 51, a resident of Elba, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. A graveside service for Mr. Latham will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 8th, in Wise Mill Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Sanders officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Latham was a devoted husband, father, brother, and fantastic friend. He had the kind of personality that made him easily loved by all those who knew him. His gruff exterior often masked the extraordinarily large heart he had for others. He was kind and generous to a fault, always putting everyone else above himself. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, both riding them and working on them. There were few things in life he enjoyed more than chatting with friends on his various CB radios. He was known to all by his handle, “Hitchhiker,” though his closest friends often called him “Preacher” as well. That second handle matched his deep and abiding love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Words cannot properly express how much he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him, but they can find comfort in knowing they will all be together again one day.

Mr. Latham was preceded in death by his father, Charles Matthew Latham. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Karen Price Latham; their two children, Amy (Daniel) Stone and Brandon Latham; two sisters, Terressa Latham and Sandra (Mark) Smith; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Price, Jayce Faulk, Leon Gideon, Lee Gideon, Kyle Carnley, and Cory Latham.
