Mickey Jackson Price, 62, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 15th, 2024. Funeral services for Mickey will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 19th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home. Interment will then follow in Sardis Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 - 2 PM.
Mickey spent much of his working career as a truck driver, primarily in the logging business. He loved spending time out on the open road and the people he was able to meet along the way. There was nothing he loved to do more in his free time than working on various cars in his shop. He had a deep and abiding love for old cars and took immense pride in his ability to completely rebuild them, especially his Camaro that was his pride and joy. If Mickey was at home, there was a pretty good chance his devoted canine companions, Hershey and Bailey, were going to be nearby and getting into trouble! Naturally, his love of cars extended to NASCAR where no one could ever do it better than Dale Earnhart in Mickey's opinion. Cars could wait though on Saturdays in the Fall when it came time to cheer on his beloved Auburn Tigers in football.
He may have never known it, but Mickey meant so very much to so many people. His kindness and generosity were well known to all those who knew him. He was the kind of person you always knew you could depend on to have your back when times got hard. Probably didn't hurt that he also had a marvelous sense of humor to go with a knack for storytelling that could keep his family and friends entertained for hours. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, as well as one heck of a loyal friend. He had a special bond with his treasured son, Zach, and there was nothing better on this earth than being "PawPaw" to the granddaughter who lit up his heart. Mickey has left them all far too soon, but his legacy of love will live on in his son and grandchildren for many more years to come.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Shuley Lamar and Margaret Melodine Owens Price, and siblings, Margaret Faurot, Mildred Thomas, Judy Hodges, Angie Price, Harry Price, Harold Price, and Gerry Price. He is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Zach and Samantha Price; grandchildren, Ella Grace Price and Sawyer Jackson Price, who is on his way; siblings, Marsha Scroggins, Shirley Martinez, and Daisy (David) Butson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Adam Butson, Anthony Brown, Jamie Brown, Michael Petty, Kendall Bailey, and Gary Owens.
