Mr. Mickey Lee Sasser, 64, a resident of Summerdale, Alabama and previously of Jackson, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Andalusia Manor on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023. A graveside service for Mickey will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 15th, in Sasser Cemetery with the family delivering a eulogy and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends in Sasser Church of Christ for one hour prior to the service.
Mickey was a gentle, kind-hearted soul who just radiated love for others throughout his life. He was well-known for his daily walks around his hometown of Jackson. Everyone knew him and he enjoyed getting to visit with so many different people every day. While there, he was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God in Jackson. He was also a proud participant with the CCARC for 30 years as they allowed him to live his life on his own terms and to its fullest. Mickey was also incredibly thoughtful. If you saw him, he was going to ask you about your family, not because it was the polite thing to do, but because he truly cared that everyone he loved was well and happy. He was also one of the biggest fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide you will ever meet. He loved football in general, but Bama and his hometown Jackson High School Aggies were always tops in his heart. Obviously, Mickey was just a special person who brightened the day of almost everyone he met. His loved ones will miss him terribly, but they will find comfort in the knowledge that he defied the odds and lived his best life.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Collen Sasser and Sara Crawford Sasser. He is survived by his loving sisters & brothers-in-law, Michelle & David York and Maria "Skipper" & Keith Lee; niece, Gracie Lee; nephews, Dylon (Ruthie) York and Ryan Lee; grand-nieces, Anya York, Nina York, Petra York; and grand-nephew, Julian York.
