Mildred Opal Atkinson

ATKINSON, Mrs. Opal Owens, 79, a resident of Luverne, Alabama died Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11 AM from Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Atkinson is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Thomas; her parents, Oscar & Linny Reaves Owens; two sisters, Olean Boswell and Tinea Rhodes; and four brothers, Hillary Owens, Earnest Owens, Oneal Owens, and Ely Owens. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James T. “Bo” Atkinson; one son & daughter-in-law, Donald & Sheila Cook Atkinson; two grandchildren, Scott Thomas and April Atkinson; and one sister, Bernice (Wilton) Bradley. Active pallbearers will be Mike Campbell, Greg Campbell, Ricky Bradley, Mike Bradley, Duane Rhodes, and Willie Lee Burgans. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 – 8 pm.
