Mildred Joyce Franks Moore, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in High Point, NC on August 21. Funeral services for Joyce will be held at 2 p.m. on September 16 at Turners Funeral Home in Luverne, AL. Services will be led by her former pastor, Steve Campbell of Snowdoun Baptist Church. Joyce will be buried next to her husband in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service from 1-2 p.m. at Turners.
Joyce was a long-time resident of Montgomery, AL where she enjoyed her work in the furniture market. She spent her spare time on creative pursuits such as arranging flowers, gardening and sewing projects into her late '80s. In 2004, she relocated to High Point, NC, to be near her children.
Joyce was a kind and understanding mother and enjoyed the company of family and friends. She lived independently until age 89 and was fortunate to remain in her home for the final years of her life.
She is survived by son, Barry Moore (Lynda) of Calabash, NC; daughters, Donna Miller (Steven) of Linwood, NC and Angela Somerville (Jeff) of High Point; son-in-law, Mark Morton of High Point; grandchildren, Jared Moore (Jennifer) and Laura Baker (Ian); great grandchildren, Carson Idol and Scarlett Moore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ophelia Moseley Franks, husband, Kendrick Moore, daughter, Kathy Moore, brothers, Edward Franks and Neal Franks, sisters, Joretta Moseley and Janice McCook, and grandchild, Alan Taylor.
